BSc Computer Science (ZHAW) · Founder & CEO of obseed · 15+ years in software architecture and engineering · 5× middle-distance triathlon finisher (70.3)

Patrick is the founder and CEO of obseed, a software architect and a triathlete. He got back on the bike in 2018 and did his first triathlon a year later. Since then he has finished five middle-distance (70.3) races, with a best time of 5:00:50, plus 2:15:48 over the Olympic distance, 1:06:48 in the sprint and 1:39:41 in the half marathon. His coach is Fabian Kremser, who leads research and science at obseed.

Training brought the apps with it: at one point Patrick was using up to four at once, because each had its own clever features. None of them gave him the full picture. Then a bad accident left him with two broken hands. With time on his hands, he asked himself: how hard can it be to build this myself? That was the start of obseed.

For Patrick, data is more than a means to an end. "I don't like data. I love data," he says. He pairs that passion with more than 15 years of experience in software architecture and engineering, including frontend architecture roles at Migros, Scout24 and the University of St. Gallen. Since 2015 he has also run his own software company, Squibble. He studied computer science part-time at ZHAW (BSc).

On the obseed blog he writes about data integration, HRV and what becomes possible when you take training data seriously.

Patrick lives in Switzerland with his wife Klaudia and their three children.
